![Update from the Dam Short Film Festival #1!
Sorry we’ve been leaving you hanging… internet access has been a little spotty. I sit here in the press room of the Festival, enjoying some salad with actors Kevin Sheen and Julia McAlee. Kevin and I arrived in Las Vegas Wednesday night and stayed in Tower 2 of the Excalibur Hotel on the ‘Strip. Gambled a little and enjoyed the evening. Julia joined us yesterday [Friday] morning fresh off her roadtrip from LA and we drove together out to Boulder City, where we’ve been enjoying meeting other filmmakers, press, staff, and film fans.
Our film showed in the “Weird Worlds” program for “Avant-garde and other creatively original films,” which I personally kind of like as a description. A number of great films were shown before and after ours and ‘Here and Gone’ got an excellent reception from the audience.
Well, we’ve got to run to catch the “Women and the World” program… we’ll stay in touch!
Love, Zach!](http://24.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_kxr22e6rEI1qa7vtio1_500.jpg)

We just received word that Here and Gone has been chosen for inclusion at the Dam Short Film Festival in Boulder City, NV!
It will be playing in the “Weird Worlds: Avant-Garde and Other Creatively Original Films” program on Thursday, February 11th.
The ‘2D or Not 2D Animation Festival’ here in Seattle just let us know that we didn’t meet their “incredibly high standard” for animated films and it will, consequently, not be showing there.
It’s, I suppose, a little disappointing, but I realize we made a pretty unique film that defies categorization. As such, it doesn’t really fit into many narrow definitions for things like “animation” or “narrative” or even “experimental.”
If we’d gotten in, we would’ve had to make a tough decision about whether to show or not, because the Seattle International Film Festival, a much higher profile fest, doesn’t show films that have already had a regional premiere. So, here’s to future acceptances!
