Relatedly, this third post will serve as the ‘end’ of this little Las Vegas adventure for Julia, Kevin, and I… at least for 2010.</p> <p>We’re back in the big city of Las Vegas, a far cry from the humble town of Boulder City. Some friends we met there will be joining us in a bit, but for now we’re relaxing in our hotel room off the Vegas strip.</p> <p>I think I can speak for myself and certainly Kevin, currently sleeping on a strangely patterned bed nearby, when I say that we are utterly exhausted. Kevin, Julia, and I are quite enjoying our time here in Boulder City, NV, a lovely small town. We took to the local dive, The Back Stop, last night for a game of Shuffleboard [for the record, Kevin and I won a comeback victory over Julia and another filmmaker we met here.] We found two nickels and proceeded to play them in a slot machine, win more than $10 before losing it all again—but not before 4 AM. And, oh, there have been movies!</p> <p>I’ve been very impressed by a lot of the stuff we’ve seen here and the desire to make another short [soon!] has been renewed in me. I sit here in the press room of the Festival, enjoying some salad with actors Kevin Sheen and Julia McAlee. Kevin and I arrived in Las Vegas Wednesday night and stayed in Tower 2 of the Excalibur Hotel on the ‘Strip. Gambled a little and enjoyed the evening. Julia joined us yesterday [Friday] morning fresh off her roadtrip from LA and we drove together out to Boulder City, where we’ve been enjoying meeting other filmmakers, press, staff, and film fans.</p> <p>Our film showed in the “<a href="http://www.damshortfilm.org/2010/htm/drab.htm">Weird Worlds</a>” program for “Avant-garde and other creatively original films,” which I personally kind of like as a description.
